The future of driver education

Interested in running the BTEC in your school?

Download an information pack here.

The BTEC Level 2 Driving and Driver Education is a safety focused qualification that appeals to both young people and employers.

Flexibly designed the BTEC consists of 40 hours of in-class education, which can take place within the school timetable, during enrichment time or as an after school activity.

On top of this students receive 20 hours of top quality in-car driver coaching with peer review, to take place outside of school time like any other driving lessons.

Pass rates are incredibly high and the course has been shown to be very popular with OFSTED and parents.

Other benefits to the school include:

  • Increased attendance
  • High sixth form uptake
  • Positive publicity
  • Safer students who are encouraged to take responsibility and to reflect on their own performance.

David New - Head Teacher
Nailsea School, Somerset

“Some of the most frightening statistics are those around the numbers of young people who are involved or killed in road accidents each year. As a school which has made providing life skills alongside excellent academic success its highest priority, I feel it is absolutely right that we should be aiming to provide the skills that will keep them alive on the roads. We have had a huge uptake of the course from our pupils, as well as interest from pupils wanting to join our 6th form, other schools in the area and the media.”
